Patrick Gregorio, BAP-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), executive director, initiated some exploratory talks with UAAP 2008 Host School (Univ of the Philippines) and NCAA member Mapua, with regards to merging the two leagues for the 2008 season. The DLSU Green Archers won the UAAP 70th Sr. Men’s Basketball Championship. DLSU was heavily favored to win because they were the hungrier team.
