Looks like there is going to be no unified Collegiate League in 2008 between the NCAA and UAAP as the UAAP Board voted to reject the proposal formulated by SBP Executive Director, Patrick Gregorio.

Fr. Ermito de Sagon of host University of Santo Tomas. said that:

We do not want the UAAP to be merged with any league because we want to maintain our identity, tradition and history.

That effectively sidesteps the issue of having to contend with eligibility issues between the two leagues in order to get the planned merger work.

Traditionally also, the UAAP Board always announces their decision to be “unanimous” as a sign of unity even if some members of the board voted in the losing side of the vote.
