Mark Cuban Says Gay Player in the NBA would make it big

February 12th, 2007  |   Views: 57 --

nba_maninmiddle_195.jpgHere’s an interesting idea from the ever affable owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban (unless you’re Donald Trump.) He said that any player who is gay in the NBA would make it big once they admitted their sexual preference. This is after the buzz that was generated when former Orlando Center, John Amaechi, admitted that he was gay.

His point being:

“You would be an absolute hero to more Americans than you can ever possibly be as an athlete, and that’ll put money in your pocket.

You would be a marketers dream come true and would therefore rain endorsements on you. The good thing also is that no one would dare say anything bad about your homosexuality. Anybody who tried would immediately be labeled a pariah. Like what happened to Karl Malone when he said that he had a problem playing against Magic Johnson after he admitted that he had AIDS. Boy did that guy shut up quickly after other players rallied around Magic Johnson to offer their support.
